The Preceptory was then closed and the Temple prepared for a meeting of Knights of Malta. The Provincial Sub-Prior and Provincial Officers entered the Temple and took their places at the Pentagonal and Octagonal Tables. The Provincial Sub-Prior opened a Chapter of Provincial Priory of Surrey in the Order of Knights of Malta.

The Provincial Sub-Prior conducted the Ceremony of installation. Knights Simon Edward Dickson, Joe Norris and David McShane were admitted members of the Order by the Provincial Sub-Prior and the Officers of Provincial Priory, ably assisted with the Banners by the members of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard. Grateful thanks must go to those Officers who stood in at the Pentagonal and Octagonal Tables; as well as E.Kt. Mark Winchester, who acted as Provincial Deputy Mareschal, E.Kt. Stephen Surridge who acted as Captain of Outposts and Kt. Paul Rayward our Provincial Guard.

Near life-size silhouettes of a First World War ‘Tommy’ are being fixed on buildings, gardens, fields, and roundabouts across the country, in remembrance of those in the armed forces who came home ‘silently’ from the war, as well as those who never made it home.
