Stephen Langton Preceptory’s Christmas Meeting
In February, our Provincial Prior, RE.Kt. Patrick Crossan, invited Peter Brown, Bryan Spearman from Sussex, and myself to his Craft Lodge as his personal guests. Lodge of Grand Design, into which our Provincial Prior was initiated in 1980, meets at the Barn Hall, Great Bookham, a unique venue.
After the Preceptory was opened the Provincial Marshal, E.Kt. Chris Eley, entered and advised the Acting Eminent Preceptor, RE.Kt. Michael Banbury, Past Provincial Prior of Surrey, that VE.Kt. Christopher D Cradock, the Provincial Sub Prior of Surrey was in the ante-room and demanded admission to the Preceptory. The Provincial Sub Prior of Surrey entered through an Arch of Steel, was greeted by the Eminent Preceptor and offered the baton. The Provincial Sub Prior was saluted with 5 after which he greeted everyone.
Knight Ken Chandler was then installed as Eminent Preceptor by RE.Kt. Knight Michael Banbury in a very sincere manner.
The Preceptory was closed and a Priory of Knights of Malta was opened. Knight Ken Chandler was installed as Eminent Prior. The Knights then closed the Priory in peace and harmony and afterwards dined together in fraternal union singing some well known carols accompanied by E.Kt. Glyn Harvey on the organ.
