Provincial Priory of Malta meeting

In September the Provincial Priory of Malta meeting was once again held under the Banner of Emmaus Preceptory No 446. The afternoon began with a meeting of Emmaus Preceptory. The Eminent Preceptor this year was VE.Kt. Patrick Crossan, PGtReg, ProvSubPrior.

Three Candidates were balloted as joining members: Em.Kt. Colin Harrison a member of Chertsey Preceptory No.304; Em. Kt. David Thompson, PProv1stCon, a member of Sacryham Preceptory No.425 and Em.Kt. Chris Eley, PGtWofReg, PProv1stCon, a member of St George at Stoneleigh Preceptory No 364.

The Preceptory was then closed and a Priory of Knights of Malta was opened. The Provincial Mareschal, Em.Kt. Chris Eley, entered and advised the Eminent Prior that the Rt.Em.Kt. Michael J Banbury, Provincial Prior of Surrey along with a number of Provincial Officers of the year was in the ante-room and demanded admission to the Priory. The Provincial Prior of Surrey entered and was greeted by the Eminent Prior.

Kt. James Annand of St Catherine’s Preceptory No. 607 and Kt. David John Senior Smith, of Chertsey Preceptory No. 304 were then admitted members of the Order by the Eminent Prior and his Officers. The Historical Address and the explanation of the Banners were given in a superb manner by Em.Kt. Leslie Grout.

Following the ceremony, a Chapter of the Provincial Priory of Surrey was opened and the Provincial Malta Officers of the year 2013 – 2014 were appointed and invested by the Provincial Prior.

The Provincial Prior then declared that the Provincial Priory of Surrey meeting in the Order of Malta is closed. The R.E.Provincial Prior and the Officers of the Year retired in procession under the direction of the Provincial Marshal.
